I was discharged at noon today, so Greg and I got to go home for a few hours and shower and unpack and just rest for a little bit. We returned to the hospital later this evening to be with Emmy. Greg and I happened to be in the room holding Emmy while the doctors did their nightly rounds out on the NICU floor, so we were present for nightly rounds when the doctors peeked in our room and told us that she passed her echocardiogram, and so she has no heart issues!

She does have a small hole in the top atrium section of her heart, but apparently, that’s completely normal for newborns and nothing to worry about. However, the doctors will monitor it as she gets older, since Down Syndrome babies sometimes have heart issues.

Also, they took all of her oxygen tubes out because she no longer needs the assistance, and she started breathing on her own for the first time. It was so great to see those tubes come out, and we could actually look at her beautiful face without obstruction!
